I'VE BEEN EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE
Hi there! And welcome to my Wedding and Marriage Blog. I'm so happy you're here! I’m Omishan (oh-MEE-shin), owner of Adeswua Events, a wedding consulting business based in New Orleans, LA, (WHO DAT!) The purpose of this blog is to give some guidance and direction to all of those engaged couples out there who have the desire and want the experience of planning their own weddings. I will give you real, practical advice that you can put into action to start, continue, and complete your wedding planning journey.
A Little About Me
So, I must admit, I’m not one of those women who dreamed about the details of her wedding day from childhood, but I always loved planning and organizing. When I was engaged, I didn’t consider hiring a wedding planner; I knew I wanted to experience this journey and hope that my love of planning would prevail.
Well let me tell you, not only did I find it truly satisfying to plan my own wedding, but I absolutely loved the entire experience. I had no idea that I would get so much joy from it. The feeling I felt gave me the idea that I should be helping other engaged couples find that joy in their planning journeys; and that’s how the concept of Adesuwa Events was born.
Now let me be clear, I love LOVE. But what I love more is the journey. The journey of life is made up of all smaller journeys we experience every day; so why not make each one something to remember. The journey of marriage begins at your engagement, but during that time, most people are a disheveled, stressed out mess. Why not start that journey in a memorable way? In some people's cases, they want a wedding planner to take care of everything for them, and that’s perfectly fine. But for some of us, we desire the experience of planning our weddings ourselves, and that’s fine too.
But planning your own wedding has gotten a bad rap. Why can't that part of our journey be a pleasant one? Why can't the wedding planning journey be one that brings us joy and happiness? Well it can be! With the right tools and planning strategies, the wedding planning experience can be memorable (in the best way). Yes, it will be a whole lot of work and can seem overwhelming but when the proper processes are in place to streamline the “chaos,” it can be a beautiful experience.
Your wedding planning journey should be one that builds anticipation, not anxiety, for your wedding day. It’s the beginning steps of your journey in marriage so you should want it to be exciting and pleasant. So that is my focus and what I hope to accomplish with this blog; to provide you with the guidance to help ensure that your wedding planning journey is one to remember.
Tell me, what are your thoughts on planning your own wedding?
